Prof. dr hab. Alexander Paul Mazurek is a graduate of the Pharmaceutical Faculty of the Medical University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Physics of the The University of Warsaw. He is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences (drug chemistry, medical chemistry). Professor Mazurek is an outstanding scientist in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow for 3 years, and for 2 years as a Visiting Professor, in the field of pharmacology,
physiology and biophysics at the Department of Pharmacology and Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. The main field of interest and scientific work of Prof. Mazurek is molecular pharmacology, in particular drug-receptor interactions and nanotechnologies. Four decades of experience in the medical marijuana field. Professor Mazurek has a large publishing output of scientific papers published in international journals. Publishing achievements: over 100 scientific communications and over 100 presentations at the Scientific Conferences. He is the author or co-author of 176 original publications, over 20 review publications, over 100 scientific communications as well as over 100 reports and professional publications on the subject of medicines. Professor Mazurek is a member (former Vice President) of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society, a member of the Polish Chemical Society, a member of the International Society of Quantum Biology (lifetime membership) and a member of the Polish Pharmacoeconomic Society (with the title of Past-President). Professor Mazurek actively participates in the activities of the Polish Academy of Sciences and also participated in the activity of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as an expert in the field of pharmaceutical sciences (former member of KEJN). Parallel to his scientific activity, he is involved in the activity of drug registration and quality control system in Poland. For a period of ten years, Professor Mazurek was the director of the National Medicines Institute in Warsaw. He was also a member and for one term of office the Chairman of the Commission for Registration of Medicinal Products and Medical Devices in Poland. For many years he was also a member of the Polish Pharmacopoeia Commission. Professor Mazurek is an expert in the field of drug evaluation recognized both in Poland and in the European Union. As an expert of the World Health Organization, a member of the Polish Pharmacopoeia Commission, a representative of Poland in the Pharmaceutical Forum, and in the Standing Committee in Brussels, he made a significant contribution to the development of pharmaceutical knowledge and practice on an international scale. Professor Mazurek was the Head of the Department of Synthetic Drugs at the National Medicines Institute. Professor Mazurek has been continuously involved in assessing the quality, safety, and therapeutic efficacy of medicinal products in Poland. He was the Chairman of the Committee for Medicinal Products at the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices, and Biocidal Products and was the Chairman of the Coordination Committee Process for the harmonization of the medicinal products with the requirements of the European Union.
